Position Title: Ritchie Center Athletic Events & Catering Cook.
Location: Ritchie Center, University of Denver.
Employment Type: Part-Time / Event-Based.

Position Summary:

The Ritchie Center Athletic Events & Catering Cook plays a vital role in delivering high-quality food service during university athletic events and catered functions. This position includes both concession-based cooking and back-of-house support for catered events, requiring versatility, professionalism, and a passion for hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook menu items for athletic events, including grill, fryer, and prep station duties.
  • Assist with food preparation and plating for catered functions, including banquets, receptions, and VIP suites.
  • Ensure food quality, presentation, and portion control meet established standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and concession area throughout service.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and labeling.
  • Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with other cooks and catering staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service to guests during peak event times.
  • Support post-event cleanup and kitchen breakdown procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen, catering, or food service setting.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event and catering schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly wage: $18.81-$26.31/hour depending on experience.
